Hi! My name is Kathryn, the founder of Digital Savvy Parent. I am a wife, and mother to two kids. These said kids introduced me to the wonderful world of digital parenting. This is a new frontier, even for tech-savvy parents like me, whose cell phone history dates back to my first bag phone – circa 1994.
While navigating this new digital world with my kids, I found that I was spending A LOT of time researching. Researching kid friendly web browsers, researching Minecraft servers, researching social media apps, and the list goes on and on. I was happy when I found the answers that I was looking for, but it took FOREVER (even with my Google ninja skills) to sift through the outdated articles, partially correct YouTube videos by kids easily half my age, and sometimes overabundance of information just to get a quick recommendation on how to set-up an app.
As a fellow parent, I want to give you more time in your day.
I know how much time it takes to be a parent, day in and day out. As a parent, you are a chef, nurse, chauffeur, teacher, counselor, housekeeper, and personal shopper among many, many other things. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being a parent, but if there was a way to get a few extra minutes in my day, I would be first in line.
This is where Digital Savvy Parent comes in. My mission for this site is simple. I want to help other parents. Learning the ins and outs of this new digital world can take a TON of time, and I want to share with you what I have learned, so you can get a little bit of time back into your day to spend with your family.
Apps, games and social media are constantly changing. Kids are constantly being exposed to new online products and situations. I want to help you stay on top of what is important by sharing with you relevant tech tips, tricks and news to keep your kids safe and digitally savvy.
