Do you scroll through your Facebook news feed and wonder how you can keep from seeing those annoying posts from the same few friends over and over? Or why the posts are not in date order?
Here are a few quick tips to make your Facebook news feed a happier place!
1) Remove posts from your news feed while still remaining “Friends”
If you have a friend on Facebook that keeps irritating you with their political posts, constant updates or in any other way, all you need to do is make one quick change to keep their posts from showing up in your news feed. You can “unfollow” a friend which will keep their posts off your your news feed, but it will not actually “unfriend” that friend. Plus, the friend will not get a notification that you unfollowed them, and you can still go back and look at their page as long as you are still “friends.”
There are 2 easy ways to unfollow someone.
The first option is to unfollow them right from your newsfeed.
- While on your newsfeed, click on the little arrow icon in the top left corner of a post.
- Select “Unfollow”
The other way to unfollow a friend is to make the change while viewing their profile page.
- Click on the profile picture of the friend that you want to unfollow.
- Click on “Following” and then select “Unfollow”
- That is it!
2) See Your Favorite Friends First in the News Feed
If you don’t want to be last to hear about that super cute picture that your sister-in-law just posted, just quickly change your follow setting for that person to see their posts first.
- Click on the profile picture of the friend that you want to see posts from first.
- Click on “Following” and then select “See First”
3) View Your News Feed by Most Recent Posts
If you want to see what was just posted instead of what was posted 14 hours ago, you can easily make that change.
On a computer, click on the three dots next to News Feed in the top left corner of the screen. Then, select Most Recent. This will temporarily change your news feed order from Top Stories to Most Recent.
To make this change from a phone, open Facebook and click on More (with the three lines) in the bottom right corner. Then scroll down to Feeds. (You may need to tap See More under the Explore list to get to Feeds). Then, tap on Feeds and tap on Most Recent.
You’re all set!
If you would like to keep up with comments on a post, you can click the carrot in the top right corner of the post and select “Turn on Notifications.” Voila!
When I have some down time, I love to see what my friends are up to on Facebook. However, recently it has become a bit of a challenge with all the negative posts. After I made these changes, I was able to get rid of all the negativity and focus on the good things 🙂
